Monday 18th May 2009 - A trip to the Trafford
Centre costing £10
It is with deep sorrow that we have to let you know that
Dorothy Darby, our mother and long-term secretary of the WRSG passed away at
New Cross Hospital this evening. It would be inappropriate at this time to
post up-coming events and reviews of those passed. I hope that you will bear
with us until we are back up and running again.
Monday 15th December Christmas Coffee Morning We will be holding a Christmas coffee morning with tea, coffee, squash and mince pies on Monday 15th December from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm at the Holly Bush, Penn Road Wolverhampton. We will have a raffle and Bring and Buy sales table. Jessica and Jack have given me lots of their outgrown soft toys because they say we are a “good charity” and the other things for sale are mounting up! Thank you to the members who have responded to my appeal for raffle prizes. We should have a good selection for this Christmas coffee morning. Booking forms are enclosed with this month's newsletter and we would like to see as many of you there as possible. Please return your booking slips to me by 1st December so that we know how many to cater for.

Tuesday 12th June 2007 What An Experience! On 12th June, about forty of us set off for the London Eye. The event was organised by Joyce Knibbs, so we knew it would be good. The weather was glorious. We had warm sunshine and clear blue skies which was just what we needed for the view from the Eye. We arrived at the Eye leaving the coach at 1.15 p.m. ready for our pre-booked, fast tracked trip at 2.00 p.m. (This meant we didn’t have to queue to pay and that we shared two “Pods” between our members). The actual ride on the Eye lasted 40 minutes and it went round so slowly that you didn’t realise you were moving. When we came off the Eye we had time for a snack and a drink before embarking on the London Eye River Cruise. Again Joyce had
pre-booked and we just walked down onto the boat without having to
queue. The river cruise lasted forty minutes and had an excellent
running commentary on the London landmarks. Our driver made his way out
of London via Whitehall, passing the Cenotaph and Downing Street and
other London landmarks. This was a really lovely day out and was
superbly planned by Joyce."

Saturday 12th May 2007, 7:30 pm We had a lovely evening at the concert on the 12th May. The Ashmore Park Choir entertained us at Fallings Park Methodist Church, Wimbourne Road, Fallings Park. The concert was well attended and we joked that it was much nicer than staying in to watch the Eurovision Song Contest! The event raised £224 for the WRSG and our sincere thanks go to Joyce Knibbs. It is not easy booking the Choir, the room, organising the refreshments and the raffle and selling the tickets. Joyce had a team of helpers and we thank them all.
